The following are Frequently Asked Questions about the content. For a complete list
of the rules, please click on the Rules button on the right.
Q: What do I design, create, etc?
A: Create any kind of design using HEW
Target Server. You don’t need to enter a hardware design, but you can. The
important thing is that your entry is complete.
Q: My code has a compiler or linker error.
Can I still submit?
A: All code in both the Windows project
and HEW project must compile and run without errors. Contest Entries with build
errors in the code or that crash on startup are ineligible.
Q: I have warnings in my projects, but
everything seems to work ok. Do you allow warnings?
A: Yes, per the contest rules we allow
up to 50 warnings in either project. Of course, less is always better.
Q: When exactly does the contest end?
A: July 4th, 2008 at 11:59pm EST. Entries
received after this time are not eligible.
Q: How is the contest judged?
A: Contest judging is conducted by CMP
and is completely blind to Renesas. A panel of 5 judges will vote on the following:
- Technical merit 20%
- Originality 20%
- Usefulness 20%
- Windows program interface (appearance) 10%
- Stability 10%
- Code Commenting 10%
- Documentation (overall and Windows program help) 10%.
Q: What if there’s a tie?
A: In the event of a tie, the tied Entry
with the highest score in the technical merit category will be deemed the winner.
In the event of a further tie, the tied Entry with the highest score in the usefulness
category will be selected.
Q: Where can I get help with HEW Target
Server?
A: The HEW Target Server forum at www.RenesasRulz.com is
the place to go for help. Experts in HEW Target Server are monitoring the forum
and will answer questions.
Q: I have a question or concern I do not
want to discuss publicly in the forums. Who can I contact about the contest?
A: You can email
ContestAdmin.RTA@renesas.com
Q: I want a kit, but I don’t live
in the USA. Can I still get a kit?
A: Yes, you can sign up to receive a
kit like anyone else. HOWEVER, you will be responsible for ANY AND ALL tariffs,
taxes, import fees, etc.
Q: How do I enter?
A: You must complete the following:
Q: How many Entries can I submit?
A: You can submit as many entries as
you like. However, each entry must be submitted separately and only one entry can
win.
Q: Can a group enter?
A: Yes, but must disclose that your
entry is from a group when submitting. If your group’s entry wins, a single
person in the group must be named as the prize winner and that person will be responsible
for dividing the prize among your group.
Q: Why may I not get a kit?
A: There a couple of reasons you may not receive an HTS contest kit after you have request one. First, the HTS contest kit is a limited edition kit which cannot be purchased. Once we run out of kits, they will no longer be available. Second, we must comply with United States Export laws. This requires us to screen each applicant to ensure they are not a citizen of, or reside in a country which is embargoed by the US. In these cases, you will receive an email informing you we cannot ship you a kit. Finally, if information you provided is incorrect, a shipment may not be processed correctly. In such cases we will attempt to contact you via email to gain the correct shipping info.
